MIAMI, FL JULY 8, 2019 – Hotel Connections has named Mike Appleton its new CEO and hired Jefferey Humin in a push towards global expansion.
Appleton is succeeding Kenneth Shanley, the longtime industry veteran who has held the position of CEO since founding the company in 1997. Shanley, who marveled at the company’s “humble beginnings out of a small hotel room which I used as an office in midtown Manhattan,” remarked how he was “incredibly proud of how far this company has come; now providing cutting-edge solutions and reliability on a global scale.”
Shanley’s penchant for innovation will certainly be missed at the helm, as in the two decades since he launched his pioneering solution for crew logistics management, the company has grown to serve over 60 airlines worldwide and process 8 million room nights annually with 7 global operations centers and 350 full-time employees. Nevertheless, he is proud to be leaving the company in good hands.
“Mike has proven his leadership and will continue the path I set forth in our future innovation and global expansion,” said Shanley. “I am pleased to pass the torch of CEO to him, and will be watching closely to see how he brings to life technologies that reimagine the possibilities for converging the leisure and professional traveler experience.”
Appleton, who formerly served as president of Hotel Connections, has been critical to growing the company’s international footprint over the last 5 years most notably with the recent additions of Etihad and Japan Airlines. Appleton brings a wealth of experience to the position and industry, having previously worked in the financial services industry at Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse.
The announcement comes in the wake of several key leadership changes at the organization. In June, Hotel Connections appointed Jeffrey Humin as their Chief Revenue Officer. Humin joined the company from Sabre, where he spent the last six years running the business development team focused on growing revenue for the Sabre Airline Solutions division within an ecosystem of 100+ strategic partners.
Shanley stated, “We are incredibly excited about the direction our company is taking and the key structural changes we have made recently. These changes will allow us to continue to scale our business for the tremendous growth that we have been experiencing and to continue to provide a world-class customer experience led by the most innovative technology solutions on the market.”
